Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Dr. Raquel Gerson

Dr. Raquel Gerson is the Director of the ABC Medical Cancer Center & Hospital General de Mexico. Bringing over 35 years experience to the role, she is a luminary in the field of Oncology.

Recognized among her peers in the medical community, Dr. Gerson has cultivated a long list of world class accomplishments. Obtaining her medical degree in 1968 from the Graduate Medical School National Autonomous University, Mexico City, she received the Best Student Award in her graduating class. She went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at Tufts University in Boston, USA. She then finished her specialization in Medical Oncology graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago prior to completing her doctorate in Medical Science from the Graduate Medical School National Autonomous University. She has received the Woman of the Year award from María Lavalle Urbina (2003); Excellence in Medicine from the Medical Cancer Center & Hospital General (2003); was honored with the “Raquel Gerson Garden,” Tacubaya Pediatric Hospital, Mexico City (2006) and the Dr. J. Manuel Velasco Arce Medal from the Mexican Association of Breast Diseases (2008). Dr. Gerson was recently condecorated with the prestigious National Eduardo Liceaga Medal for her contribution to the advances in medical science.

She has written many research papers published in various journals including but not limited to the American Society of Clinical Oncology; Cancer Journal; Annals of Oncology and the Gaceta Mexicana de Oncología. She has co-edited two books as well as writing more than 30 chapters.

Dr. Gerson lives in Mexico City with 3 of her 4 children.
