Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Lynn Addison
Lynn Addison was Senior Editor, Features, for National Geographic magazine, retiring after 28 years with the organization. While at National Geographic, Lynn edited feature stories from conception and assignment through research and production. Retirement only lasted a few months for Lynn. She spent a year as Deputy Managing Editor for Features at Science News, and is now working as a travel editor at AARP The Magazine.
Lynn received a BA in English and General Literature from SUNY Binghamton in 1974. After going on to Stanford to complete a Masters in Print Journalism in 1977, Lynn landed the role of Senior Editor at Time-Life Books in 1978. She worked for Time-Life for six years, before taking a job as an editor in National Geographic’s book division. She also held a position as a senior editor for National Geographic Traveler.
Lynn’s writing has been published in National Geographic Traveler and in National Geographic books, although her first love is working behind the scenes as an editor with wonderful writers she has known throughout her career. Her favorite compliment is, “I can’t tell what you did.”
Lynn can speak French and loves to travel with her husband, a graphic designer. They met while working together at National Geographic Traveler and married while both at National Geographic magazine. In her spare time, Lynn enjoys volunteering at Woodrow Wilson High School, her alma mater in Washington, D.C., assisting students in the college office as they prepare essays for their college applications.
