Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Randall J. Clendening, PhD
Randall J. Clendening is the Chief Systems Architect at The Boeing Company, and is also an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University. He received his PhD in Systems Engineering from George Washington University after earning an MSc in Information Systems Technology also at George Washington University. He also holds a MS in Materials Engineering and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
Prior to his current role in the development of advanced C4ISR systems for Boeing Military Aircraft in Dallas Texas, Randall spent 5 years as Chief Engineer at Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems in Chantilly Virginia where he directed the development of a new satellite command and control station. He also held the Chief Engineer title at Boeing Satellite Systems, 3 years prior where he led the development of a new communication satellite. His other work experience includes Senior Principle Engineer at Boeing where he help to develop the initial set of systems requirements for missile defense program, Associate Director of Operational Test and Evaluation at the Office for the Secretary of Defense, Director of Space and Launch Operations for the U.S. Air Force Space Command, and Laboratory Research Engineer at the U.S. Air Force System Command where he conducted studies on the structural behavior of composite materials and developed techniques for using lasers to evaluate turbine blades.
As an Adjunct Profess, Randall has taught classes in systems engineering practices, model based systems engineering, systems dynamics and behavior analysis, systems architecture development and analysis, and systems thinking and design innovation. He has also mentored numerous doctoral candidates through the research phase of their studies. He collaborates on university supported research to develop agile techniques that apply to systems engineering.
Dr. Clendening has worked on the follow systems, P-8A aircraft, P-3C aircraft, Boeing 601 and 702 spacecraft, Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Delta II rocket, air launched and ground launched cruise missiles, national missile defense system.
He is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics where he is a regional science fair judge for aerospace and materials projects. He is a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering where is a paper reviewer for the annual symposium. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers where he mentors local high school students in the development of robotic projects.
Randall has held vital roles in his industry and has been responsible for the lives of others and the wellbeing of the United States as a whole. In his spare time, Randall enjoys fishing and hunting. He currently resides in Allen, Texas.
