Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Maureen Marilyn Santora, MEd
Maureen Marilyn Santora is an Activist, Educator and Writer for the Christopher Santora Educational Scholarship Fund. Maureen is a sought-after advocate for families whose loved ones died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. Among her many activities, she serves as a docent at the Tribute Center and on the advisory-committee board for the September 11 Education Trust. Maureen retired from NYC public schools after 27 years with two Teacher of the Year awards.
Having spent her professional life working with children and observing their various learning styles, she has written three children’s books about the 9/11 attacks: The Day the Towers Fell, My Son Christopher and We Remember. She is currently developing a bullying curriculum for the early childhood grades. An impassioned advocate, Maureen has spoken across the country on 9/11-related issues to grade school students and teachers.
Family is the most important thing to Maureen, and she is now a proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren whom she watches with her husband every day. Her motto is “live each day to the fullest, as one never knows what tomorrow will bring.”
Maureen holds a Master’s in Special Education from Hunter College, and a MEd from Bank Street College. She is affiliated with the United Federal Teachers Association and the New York State Federal Teachers Association. She is a Biltmore Who’s Who lifetime member, a Madison Who’s who lifetime member, and is an associate of Segr Publishing Co as well as Xlibris Publishing Co.
Maureen specializes in primary and early childhood education, writing and developing curriculum for books against bullying, and identifying learning styles of students. She is also specialized to work with students who have disabilities and to identify problems with writing.
Maureen is the proud mother of 6 children, one in remembrance. She and her husband and have been married 42 years. She enjoys reading, skiing, walking and learning something new each day.
