Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Janet Goldenstein Ahler
Dr. Janet Goldenstein Ahler is Professor Emerita at the University of North Dakota (UND). A specialist in educational anthropology, Native American culture, Indigenous culture, qualitative research methods and various methods of learning, Dr. Ahler taught classes, advised students, conducted research, and published for over 30 years.
Upon receiving her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dr. Ahler went on to complete her doctoral studies in Educational Anthropology in 1974 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a member of the American Anthropological Association, the Council on Anthropology & Education and the Society for Applied Anthropology, and has been a presenter at the Oxford Round Table at Oxford University.
Prolific in the culturally-minded scope of her career, Dr. Ahler was awarded North Dakota Multicultural Educator of the Year in 1995,the North Dakota Indian Education Association Award in 2000; and the UND Rosa Parks Award for Justice & Righteousness in 2006. As a current member of the University of Nebraska Emeriti Association, she enjoys volunteer work and traveling, and resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.
