José Fernando Montes de Oca

 
José Fernando Montes de Oca is CEO of HR Ratings, the first Latin American credit rating agency, and one of only ten companies worldwide registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO) for issuers of government securities. His key responsibilities include all administration, HR functions, financial, overseeing the business development team. Jose’s area of expertise lies primarily in financial analysis, but he also excels in corporate finance, operations management and risk management. In addition, he leads the agency’s business development team, and after initially managing a team of 40 people, he is now responsible for over 80 employees.
 
Jose received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Financial Administration and Finance from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in 2009. After earning his degree, he worked as Fixed Income Trader with Ixe Grupo Financiero, and quickly developed his expertise working with financial institutions. When joining HR Ratings, Jose started as Vice President of Financial Institutions and Mutual Funds Director, and quickly worked his way up to his current position of CEO. Jose quickly noticed and liked the company’s methods for managing business.
 
As a successful CEO, he attributes his success to having always put forth his best efforts and quickly developed skills in finance. Going forward, he is keen to network and have the company grow from the #2 position to #1 in Mexico—expanding to other markets in Latin America, Europe, and the U.S.  One highlight of his career was overseeing the agency as it achieved one rating in the U.S. and eight in Europe. Jose is excited to increase HR Rating’s international stature going forward.
