Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Edith T. Lammerts van Bueren, PhD
Dr. Edith T. Lammerts van Bueren is a Professor of Organic Plant Breeding at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. She is a valued member of the Plant Sciences department for over a decade, she is an expert in alternative farming and plant breeding, with a keen knowledge of participatory approaches and selection methods. A key player in the organic and alternative farming movement since 1986, Dr. Lammerts van Bueren is known for bringing organic plant breeding on the European agenda.
She published the first scientific book on the subject at Wiley-Blackwell in 2012, titled Organic Crop Breeding. Dr. Lammerts van Bueren’s research has also been published by Euphytica’s online publication and the Louis Bolk Institute. In addition to her research endeavors and lecture duties on plant breeding and organics, she also performs lectures for postgraduate students in organic root ecology.
After completing a Master’s in Horticulture, she went on and earned her Doctorate in Plant Breeding from Wageningen University. She is also Senior Researcher for the Louis Bolk Institute, and serves as the Chair of Eucarpia Section Organic & Low-input Agriculture and was co-founder and first chair for the European Consortium for Organic Plant Breeding (ECO-PB).
