André Puttemans is a Pharmaceutical & Medical Foreign Trade Advisor (Specialized on China) and the founding Managing Director of International Project & Business Management (IPBM) sprl, based in Wavre (Belgium). IPBM operates in the various sectors of Health & Life Sciences. Its mission is to guide businesses over the bridge that links Europe and China as well as other countries in the Far East. The company specializes in business development, project development and strategic alliances at an international level with a special emphasis on the following sectors: pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, biotechnologies, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and chemicals. In this role, André acts as a consultant and liaison for both European and Asian clients assisting them to enter the Asian/European markets. He conducts market investigations &feasibility studies, establishes strategies and plans for market introduction, supports the creation of local enterprises and manufacturing plants, finds partners for strategic alliances, and handles negotiation with suppliers, distributors and subcontractors.
With a master’s degree in Chemical Sciences, Crystallography (Distinction) from Brussels University (ULB) and a bachelor’s degree in Latin Sciences from from the Athénée Fernand Blum in Brussels plus over 40 years of international management experience, André is an impressive multilingual business executive with particular skills in pioneering new ventures and technology transfer projects involving high level relationship with multicultural and multidiscipline teams. He has had a long career of International Management with leading global companies such as Procter & Gamble, Monsanto and GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals. He is a Foreign Trade Expert specialized in China (over 25 years field experience), accredited by AWEX (Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency) and BECI (Brussels Enterprises, Commerce & Industry). He is Secretary of the Board of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, member of BioWin (Health industry cluster in Wallonia), member of the Belgium-Hong Kong Society and a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Brussels. He is frequently invited as a speaker by various academic institutions and professional associations concerning relations with China. In 2012, Andre hosted a webinar through Biotech-Finances in France about the best approach to deal with China. He is fluent in English, French and Dutch, and has a basic knowledge of German, Italian, Spanish, and Mandarin.
Currently residing in La Hulpe, Belgium (near Brussels), Andre can be found reading historical and scientific books or travelling in his spare time.
