Andrew Short is the General Manager International Business Development for Cognition Education Ltd, an organization that provides education professional services and strategic consultancy to government, public and private sector clients as well as individual school networks internationally. Cognition Education are also engaged in providing administrative and logistical services from reliable school transportation, payroll services to schools, and digital and print media publishing. More recently the company has expanded its portfolio into Vocational Education and Training and globally proprietary professional development programs based on research by Prof. John Hattie and Prof. Russell Bishop entitled Visible Learning plus and Culture Counts Plus.
 
Dedicated to helping schools provide high quality education by taking on their strategic ambitions, professional and educational performance, administrative and logistical concerns, the firm offers a wide range of support in both public and private education sectors. With over 25 years of leadership experience in the education industry, Andrew is an expert in organizational improvement, policy development and delivery, system transformation and delivering new business opportunities.
 
Andrew graduated from Waikato University and Hamilton Teachers College (today the School of Education at Waikato University) with a double major in Education and English coupled with a Diploma of Teaching. His varied career progression has reflected his passion for the profession, and Andrew is credited with developing a diversified educational portfolio across the New Zealand, South Pacific, South East Asia (SEA), Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions.
 
Andrew believes that his relationships and creativity in leadership, strategy as well as his commercial acumen has opened windows of opportunities towards his success. He resides in Auckland, New Zealand but spends a large proportion of his professional time in the SEA and MENA regions. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and playing golf, and is an avid lover of rugby.
