Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Christopher Killmore
Christopher Killmore is the Manager of Hot Rolled Product Development for BlueScope at the Port kembla Works, the largest steelmaker and steel plant in Australia. He has been a valuable part of BlueScope for over 35 years, having had responsibility for the product development of tinplate, reinforcing bar, cold rolled strip, hot rolled strip, high strength linepipe steels and heavy plate, including plate for offshore platforms, pressure vessels, shipbuilding, Q&T products and specialized naval grades including for submarines.
Known as an innovator and pioneer in the development of thin strip products by the strip casting process, heavy plate and hot rolled strip steel products, Christopher has been awarded several product patents. Prolific in his contributions to the steel industry, with over 60 technical publications authored or coauthored, a recipient of several major Australian Research Council research grants, industrial supervisor for seven PhD students, reviewer for several journals, committee member of various Australian Standards Committees and delivered a plenary lecture on strip cast product development to an international conference, he has also been recognized with three Best Paper awards from the Association of Iron and Steel Technology.
Christopher earned his bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy at the University of Wollongong in 1978, and completed further study to qualify for his Master’s. In addition to holding various senior technical positions with BlueScope Steel, he served as the Steel Industry Marketing Manager at the refractory manufacturer, Cookson Plibrico, for 3 years, which broaden his knowledge of the steel industry. Looking ahead, he hopes to share his expertise and branch out into the consulting and mentoring fields as well as product development project management in the steel industry.
