With over 25 years experience as an International Human Resources Director, Claire Simon has achieved impressive results throughout Europe, USA, Africa, and Asia earning the Top Employer certification for best practices in HR. With the objective of fulfilling enterprising companies’ aspirations to expand their business on a global level, Claire Simon covers all aspects of HR strategy. At Umicore, a global materials technology group, she successfully deployed redundancy plans which saved the company ten million dollars by avoiding strikes. She also proposed and implemented a HR strategy which increased employee motivation at no cost to the company positioning it amongst France’s top five employers. This strategy was so successful it was implemented throughout Southern Europe.

With previous roles including HR Director at Schlumberger, CarnaudMetalbox, CisBio, and Marks and Spencer, Claire Simon’s impressive skill set currently includes defending the interests of key business units during negotiations with staff representatives in compliance with the decentralized approach; providing HR management assistance to France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Turkey ensuring consistency of the Umicore Group’s global rule; presiding over the Central Company Committees and Group Committee; attending European Works Council; participating in the Umicore International HR network taking a proactive role in determining appropriate solution; establishing new Group policies and exchanging best practice; management of executives and utilizing the Umicore International HR network.

During her tenure at Umicore, Claire Simon developed an in depth knowledge of Metallurgy and Chemistry industries, giving her an immediate advantage in these sectors allowing her to design and implement custom HR strategies which take into consideration complex labor needs and processes to achieve tangible results in improving performance and profitability.

Currently residing in France, Claire Simon enjoys swimming, skiing, and playing the piano.
