Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Dr. Ghassan Nawfal
Dr. Ghassan Nawfal is Head of the Department of Surgery and President of the Medical Committee at the Beirut General Hospital. Having finished his Medical School studies at the American University of Beirut in 1987, Dr. Nawfal completed a 5-year General Surgery Specialty Training Program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and a 2-year training program in Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London, London, UK.
Dr. Nawfal returned to Lebanon in 1994 as Head of the Surgery Department at the Beirut General Hospital and Consultant Surgeon in Trad Hospital. He has a special interest in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery as well as surgery of the liver, pancreas and morbid obesity.
Dr. Nawfal is the President of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) – Lebanon Chapter and serves on the executive board of several Lebanese and international Medical and Surgical Societies such as the Lebanese Society for General Surgery (LSGS) and the International HepatopancreatoBiliary Association (IHPBA). In addition to his medical and surgical studies, he has completed a 2-year Master Program in Hospital and Health Management in 2012 at the Ecole Superieure des Affaires, Beirut / Universite Paris VII.
Dr. Nawfal enjoys traveling and is interested in studying ancient cultures, in addition to keeping up with academics. He lives in Beirut, Lebanon.
