Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Dr. Rebecca Hierholzer
Dr. Rebecca Hierholzer is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of COVERSA – Collection of Victim Evidence Regarding Sexual Assault ¬– a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality, compassionate post sexual assault patient care. COVERSA provides the services of SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) to area hospitals, including North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO and Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO, Ray County Hospital, Lafayette Regional Hospital, Liberty Hospital, Research Medical Center, St. Joseph Health Center, Cass County Hospital, Belton Regional Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Excelsior Springs Medical Center in Missouri and Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas. Dr. Hierholzer is also an Emergency Physician at Morningstar Emergency Physicians of Team Health, St. Francis Health Center, in Topeka, Kansas.
Dr. Hierholzer is extensively credentialed and educated. She earned her combined BA/MD degree at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. She then did her internship, and residency in Emergency Medicine, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. She later earned her Master’s of Business Administration in Health Care from the American Intercontinental University. She is licensed in the State of Missouri and the State of Kansas, and is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Dr. Hierholzer has had numerous professional appointments in the Kansas and Missouri areas. In the past she was the Medical Director of the NKC SANE Program at North Kansas City Hospital, before establishing COVERSA, as well as their Express Care Clinic. She was Medical Director of the Chest Pain Center at St. Francis Health Center. She is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Dr. Hierholzer is a member of many professional organizations, including the National Association of Professional Women, the Kansas City Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, the Missouri State Medical Association, Kansas Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Emergency Physicians, Forensic Section, Missouri and Kansas College of Emergency Physicians. She contributed a chapter in the publication, “Evaluation and Management of the Sexually Assaulted or Sexually Abused Patient” Second Edition, American College of Emergency Physicians, 2013. She is also a past officer on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City. She currently represents the physicians of the State of Missouri as an AMA delegate.
Dr. Hierholzer was recognized for her professional accomplishments by Non-Profit Connect as a Rising Star, 2014, the National Association of Professional Women, which named her “Woman of the Year” 2012-2013. She was also named Emergency Physician of the Year 2010 by the Missouri Emergency Nurses Association.
