Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Dr. Viola Galligioni
Dr. Viola Galligioni is the Animal Center Director and National Coordinator of the International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno (FNUSA-ICRC), a new generation science and research center partnered with the Mayo Clinic and focused on finding new methods, technologies and medicines for effective prevention, early diagnostics and individualized treatment of cardiovascular and neurological diseases. Part of the International Clinical Research Center, the Animal Center (AC) offers support to scientists in their in vivo research and in vivo experimental design, mainly, but not exclusively, in the fields of cardiology and neurology. As the Director of the Animal Center, Dr. Galligioni successfully opened and manages 2 small animal facilities dedicated to pioneering medical research. She has also introduced regular communication measures and productive networking with facility users, technical staff, external contractors, and other institutes to maintain seamless operations and exceed industry best practices.
In 2010, she earned her PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna. She received Student Poster Presentation Prizes at the Drug Information Associations Euro-meeting in both 2008 and 2010. She is qualified and experienced in working with sheep, pigs, mice, rats, fish, frogs and cephalopods, and has conducted research in Italy, South Africa and Germany. In addition, she was the start-up Project Leader of GENE-VET BRINGING TECH TO PET, a 5-person project with goal of developing a diagnostic tool for infectious disease in veterinary medicine, as part of the Italian D2T Start Cup 2013 Enterprise Innovation Award.
Today, Dr. Galligioni is based out of the Czech Republic. She speaks fluent Italian and English, and enjoys skiing and traveling in her spare time.
