Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Duncan Maple
An accomplished Marine Engineer, Duncan Maple has 20 years of experience in his field. Currently he is employed as Chief Engineer with Tallship Adventures located in Singapore. Tall Ship Adventures Pte Ltd (TSA) is the owner and operator of the Royal Albatross – a stunning and unique 47m luxury 4 Masted Barquentine Tall Ship with 22 sails. After undergoing classification and an extensive renovation, her home berth is the Historical Ships Harbour at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. The Royal Albatross is one of the largest charter yachts in Singapore with a guest capacity of 200 alongside, 149 day sailing and 10 cruising. Duncan specializes in ISM, Maritime Operations, Yachting and Navigation.
Duncan’s career started with seven years in the Merchant Marine where he trained as a Marine Engineer, followed by 11 years in the Sugar Milling industry where he was involved in steam generation. Whilst there he got involved in small boats mainly power but occasionally sail yachts as well. For the next 5 years he was self-employed in the small boat industry including doing a number of deliveries both in South Africa and internationally. Duncan then spent eight years working for a marine company delivering marine fuels to vessels in the ports of Durban and Richards Bay in South Africa and a year after that working for the distributor of Fairline and Riviera motor yachts in South Africa. Since then he has been in the Superyacht Industry and has been in his current position of Chief Engineer & Executive Officer with Tallship Adventures in Singapore for the past four and a half years. He has recently (Sept 2014) qualified as a Small Craft Surveyor.
Among his many accomplishments, Duncan has delivered the motor yacht “Dorita” from South Africa to USA and he has Scuba dived in some of the best locations in the world including Texas Flower Gardens (Texas Gulf), Ascension Island (middle of the Atlantic Ocean), Surin Islands (Thailand), Pula Wey (Sumatra) and Anambas Islands (Indonesia). He was also published in the Guide to Sailing the South African Coastline.
