Francesca Binda is the President and Co-Founder of Binda Consulting International (BCI), a Malta-based consultancy founded with her brother Carlo to focus on international human and political development, strategic communications and campaigns. With nearly 30 years of experience in international relations and politics, Francesca has developed substantial relationships with political change agents and is an expert on elections, parliament and political parties. She focuses her work at BCI on women’s issues, encouraging women to participate in their own countries’ politics and find their voice.

A passion for politics was instilled in Francesca at an early age. A Canadian native, she began volunteering in Canadian politics at the age of 16. After graduating from Carlton University, Francesca began service internationally through various organizations and to date has worked in over 30 countries, eventually rising to manage multi-million dollar projects. She served as a Senior Advisor to the first woman to lead a major political party in North America, a formative experience that led Francesca to identify her calling to women’s rights. Several of her most significant political projects over the past 20 years have included making strides during political transitions in the Balkans and the Middle East. In 2002, the Government of Canada presented Francesca with the Canada Peace Keeping medal, in recognition of her work in the Balkans.

Prolific in her work and influence, in 2006 Francesca co-edited the book The Implementation of Quotas: Experience from Eastern Europe, examining gender quotas. Known and respected by political leaders in several countries, Francesca has advanced the cause for women’s rights during the course of her career as an NGO activist, government policy implementer, local reformer or while contributing to international think tanks. Prior to launching BCI, she served as the Senior Resident Director of the National Democratic Institute. She is a member of the International Valuation and Assessment Association.

Currently residing in beautiful Malta, Francesca enjoys cooking and international travel in her spare time.
