Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Helmut Kaiser, Ph.D
Dr. Helmut Kaiser is Managing Director and Chief Investment Advisor of Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, the investment firm of Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt. He has been Global Chief Investment Strategist of Private Wealth Management of DB since 2002. Dr. Kaiser designs the global investment processes for the bank and performs some critical functions of asset management. This role of Managing Director and Global Chief Investment Strategist of Private Wealth has been capably in Dr. Kaiser’s hands since 2011. During these activities, Dr. Kaiser successfully contributed in managing up to 50 billion USD in global multi asset portfolios, consistently outperforming corresponding benchmarks. Moreover, he engaged in the advisory of hedge funds, foundations, family offices, and investment committees of international institutional investors such as global insurance companies and pension funds.
During these activities, Dr. Kaiser had sole responsibility for the global strategy formulation in a multi-asset class context reporting directly to DB’s Global Head of Wealth Management, running DB’s Global Investment Committee (GIC), which consists up to 15 global and regional investment professionals within DB’s Asset and Wealth management unit. He conceptualized, developed, and maintained top-down driven asset allocation approaches, which are now firmly integrated in global multi-asset class investment process of Deutsche Bank, Private Wealth Management. The unit oversees ca. USD 50 billion of DPM (discretionary portfolio management) investments, worldwide. Dr. Kaiser was responsible for proprietary quantitative and qualitative asset class research whilst levering DB’s world class investment bank research for investment purposes. During his professional career he developed in-depth knowledge of the fund industry and got well connected to renowned international top fund managers and CIOs. Dr. Kaiser sits on several investment committees including ICs for internally managed funds (UCITS III FOF, Traditional FOFs, DB Platinum fund platform) and asset allocation committees. He conceptualized, developed, and maintains asset allocation tools to translate DB’s global house view into alternative portfolios tailored to clients’ risk preferences. He also led several business development projects to sharpen DB’s global investment process of private wealth management unit.
Dr. Kaiser joined Deutsche Bank in May of 1990 as a Senior Economist for Deutsche Bank AG Frankfurt. Since then he has worked as a Senior Fixed Income Strategist for Deutsche Bank AG in London, Vice-President at Deutsche Bank Research GmbH, the Head of Fixed Income Research Euroland for Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (the investment bank arm of Deutsche Bank Group), and just prior to his current position he was the Global Chief Investment Strategist for the Private Wealth Management (PWM) arm of Deutsche Bank AG. Helmut Kaiser Ph.D. was invited by the University of Virginia’s Darden Business School as part of their “Freedom Without Walls Program” to speak on his personal experience with the economics of German Unification in its first 20 Years.
Having shown a dedicated and scholarly pursuit of economics, Dr. Helmut Kaiser has earned a PhD in Economics from Frankfurt University and an MA in Economics from Bonn University. He was a post-graduate exchange student at the London School of Economics in 1989. He was also a Research Associate at the Professorship for Public Economics, Dept. of Economics, University of Frankfurt, and Member of the Special Collaborative Programme 3 (Sfb 3) funded by the German National Science Foundation (DFG) between 1985 and 1990. Dr. Kaiser was a Lecturer in Microeconomics and Public Finance at the student center Frankfurt of the Fernuniversität Hagen between 1988 and 1992.
He is prolific author on the subjects of the Economic and Monetary Union, the European bond markets, monetary and fiscal policy, international capital market developments, asset allocation, risk premiums, and credit markets; all of which have been published in well-known and respected national and international professional journals. Dr. Kaiser is a member of the American Economic Association, of the “Verein für Socialpolitik” (German Economic Association) and of the European Economic Association.
