Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Kenneth W. Sommerville, MD

 
With over 25 years in the medical field, Kenneth W. Summerville has helped a multitude of patients. Kenneth is a US Board Certified Physician in Neurology. He started out in 1980 with his own private practice located in Pennsylvania, which remained open for 11 years. In 1991 Kenneth decided he wanted to make a larger impact in the way he helped people, at which point he joined the pharmaceutical industry. Since then, Kenneth has been a part of getting numerous and valuable drugs approved for use. Many of the drugs approved through the FDA and EMEA were for epilepsy, but his research also included Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, migraines, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.
 
In Kenneth’s current role as Vice President of Clinical Sciences for GW Pharmaceuticals, based in Europe, Kenneth is in charge of the design and development of clinical trials, answering questions about epilepsy and clinical trials as well as presenting these trials to the FDA and EMEA, amongst many others.
 
Kenneth would not have been able to do this without his exceptional education from both Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey as well as Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He possesses admirable determination and has exceptional support from his wife.  With retirement in the near future for Kenneth, he looks forward to consulting on a part time basis as well as working with his wife in a new company renting Beach Houses in North Carolina.
 
He received special recognition in 2001 from the Catholic Charities for fostering a multitude of children for short and long-term care. Many of the children had severe drug withdrawals as well as liver failure.  Each of the children left Kenneth’s care in a much better state then they had arrived.
 
In his spare time, Kenneth enjoys weightlifting, history, politics sketching, molding and painting toy soldiers. He and his wife reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.
