Doctor Nestor R. Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiological Sciences at the UCLA School of Medicine and he is the Ruth and Raymond Stotter Endowed Chair in Neurosurgery and Director of the Gonzalez Neurovascular Laboratory at UCLA. Dr. Gonzalez has unique qualifications, including having completed two distinctly different residency training programs in both Radiology and Neurosurgery, and fellowship training in Vascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery. He is the recipient of numerous awards for professional excellence, including the 2012 and 2014 American Heart Association Science Innovation Awards in Stroke Research.
Dr. Gonzalez earned his medical degree with highest honors from Universidad del Rosario, including a medal for posting the topmost grades ever at the prestigious institution, and went on to receive further training in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging from the same. Then he completed training in Neurological Surgery at UCLA and fellowship training in Vascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery at the same institution. Among the many professional affiliations he maintains, Dr. Gonzalez is on the Executive Committee of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons’ Cerebrovascular Section and the American Heart Association Western States Research Committee.
