Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Paul E. Henry
Paul E. Henry is the Principal of École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur and Carrefour Options + in Sudbury, Canada. Well-versed in teaching at both the elementary level and the Secondary level, Paul has held his current position for 3 years. He has been involved in the Principalship for the past 15 years as a mentor, leader, coach and pedagogical instructor, with a special emphasis on alternative learning programs. He has taught elementary, secondary, university, and college-level courses, and his students boast a 97% average graduate rate from their programs. Also, he served the Province of Ontario as a Supervisory Officer (Senior Specialist in Education/Field Team Leader) for 2 years on a secondment in the Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat of the Ministry of Education.
After receiving his HBA (Political Science and History) and Bachelor’s in Education from Laurentian University in the early 90’s, Paul went on to earn his Master’s degree in Educational Administration & Sociology from the University of Toronto in 1996. Later, he was given an opportunity to study at Harvard, and graduated with a diploma in the Future of Learning (21st Century Learning Skills) in 2012. Paul is very proud of his extensive work to build effective pedagogy programs for the 21st century, and hopes to build synergies with educators across the world. He has published numerous articles, and continues to gain international renown for his contributions to education.
A Retired Major from the Canadian Army, Paul served in the military for 22 years. He has received decorations from the Canadian forces for his service, and is an Honorary Aide de Camp to the Governor of Kentucky (Kentucky Colonel). He found his military background gave him more than he anticipated, and has propelled him further in his life. As a Senior Staff Officer at the age of 27, Paul was involved in an effort to help military personnel receive adult education through the distance learning education program. Retiring in 2009, Paul found the distance learning program experience inspired him to advocate for education and personal growth despite any barriers that a student may face.
A pillar in his community, Paul has been a member of over 20 prestigious associations across his career including as a Knight of Justice in the Russian Order of Malta, a Knight of the Order of Saint George, Commander and Companiate of Merit in the Military and Hospitaler Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, Serving Brother of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knight of the Order of Saint Joachim, Commander of the Hospitaler Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, and was bestowed a Canadian Coat of Arms (Armigerous). Additionally, Paul has been Chair of Saint John’s Ambulance (NEO), Order of Saint Lazarus National Marshal, a Member of Northern Ontario’s French reference group and community services (service learning) for the Medical school in Sudbury, a Fellow of New Westminster College in BC, a Royal Heraldry Society Member, and was also honored with the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Noteworthy, he has donated well over 100 donations of blood to the Canadian Blood Services of Canada since the age of 18 years old.
A native of Québec, today Paul lives in Ontario, Canada, where his enthusiasm for golf has no limits. A devoted family man, Paul has been married to his wife, fellow educator Sylvie, for over 19 years. Together with their 17-year-old son, Paul and his family love to travel to foreign countries whenever possible. Most recently, Paul accomplished his lifelong dream to climb the Great Wall of China. He speaks fluent French and English.
