Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Ronald Van Gilder

Ronald Van Gilder, a Scientist and Research Fellow with Sappi Fine Paper. has expertise in colloidal polymer chemistry particularly in emulsion polymerization of latexes and their application for paper-coating, specialty and textile markets. He has led the development of a new technology platform in paper-coating binder chemistry in Sappi Fine Paper North America in collaboration with outside universities and companies as well as Sappi Europe and Sappi South Africa. Prior to Sappi, Ron also had a leading role in technology development at The Dow Chemical Company for North America as well as Europe during a lengthy career there.

He has been a member of the Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) since 1982 and has authored many technical papers and has served on the Technical Peer Review Committee for technical papers as well as leading different Steering Committees including serving as the Division Chairman. In addition TAPPI has awarded Ron several Best Paper Awards and honored him with the TAPPI Fellow status. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Society of Plastics Engineering (SPE).
