As Managing Director of C & F international Italia, Francesco Cappuccilli stands in a league of his own. He is a proven expert in Oil Countries Tubular Goods (casing pipes and tubing pipes) and the pipelines sector. He is mainly connected to oil and gas activity as well as all activity connected to steel production: namely raw materials like HBI and both basic and foundry pig iron: semis (continuous casted slabs, billets and blooms); flat rolled steel products (hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils hot dip galvanized coils; electrogalvanized coils; aluminized coils; tinplate and tin free steel heavy plates) and long rolled steel products (reinforcing round bars, wire rod, merchant bars, beams and joists) and specialty steels (engineering steels, low alloy steels and stainless steels).

Being one of the largest independent steel trading companies in the world, Francesco uses his vision and experience to lead C & F international Italia whilst remaining true to the its core philosophy; embracing finely balanced values, clear vision, and conscientious people. To this date Francesco has so far achieved a total steel trade volume of over 10 million tons of steel products and secured a large pipeline contract of value of 45 million Euros to Bulgaria. In 2004 he was awarded a degree Honoris Causa in Administration Engineering by Johnson & Wales University in Providence (State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, USA). His work has been published in the Italian economic paper “II Sole 24 One” and the “Financial Times,” UK among others. Recently in September 2014 he was invited to attend the Workshop Studio Ambrosetti European House in Cernobbio, on the shore of Como’s lake; a prestigious yearly event where top minds meet to brainstorm issues surrounding the global economy. It is attended by CEO’s, premiers and professors of note.

Francesco has a degree in Physical Chemistry specializing in metallurgy, siderurgy and the science of metals, earned at the University of Milan in 1967. He first started as the Department Deputy Head at the steel mill Acciaierie e Ferriere Lombarde Falck, Milano. He moved to sales in the same company. A pivotal point in his career, he continued in sales joining Nissho Iwai Italia Spa, Milano in 1974 as a Steel General and later in January 1976 he was appointed Manager of Ferrous Metals Department. It was in this position that Francesco took flight; importing flat rolled steel products from Japan and Spain and then selling tubular goods to oil countries; Libya, the Middle East and North Africa. Notably, he booked 96,000 tons of pipelines between Tunisia and Sicily. In 1979 he joined the Milan Office of Ferrostaal AG where he became Managing Director of Ferrostaal Italia srl in 1987 (today C & F International Italia srl) which, is where he remains today.

Francesco currently lives in Italy. In his free time he enjoys swimming, skiing and fitness club, he likes to listen to pop music, jazz, symphonies and Italian opera. He travels extensively and appreciates natural wonders, literature, movies and the arts. Francesco is fluent in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.  He also studied Latin for 8 years and ancient Greek for 5.
