Biography :Francis Davis is a former Assistant
Professor of the University of Trinidad and Tobago. He has a PhD in
Agriculture, Forage Agronomy and Animal Production, from the University of
Queensland Australia, 1980; he received a BSc in Agriculture from the
University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, 1971.Francis began his career in Ministry
of Agriculture in Trinidad. He soon realized there was a gap between food
production and food importation and became inspired to learn about food
history. He believed he could help people in impoverished countries with
growing and learning about food production from totally local resources. He is
passionate about working with his students and exceedingly proud of his
graduates.Francis is associated with the
Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) where he was Assistant Chief Examiner and
Chief Examiner for Agriculture Science for the Caribbean Secondary Examinations
Certificate (CSEC) from 1994 to 2008, and is presently the Convener Panel that
prepared the syllabus for Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in
Agriculture Science.Francis is currently an
Agriculture and Agricultural Education Consultant, and is also the Vice
President – Publications at the “Thompson’s Conservation Centre”, a
Non-Governmental Organization (TCC NGO) registered in Trinidad and Tobago. The
objectives of the Centre are:1. To develop a working and productive tropical plant germ plasm
bank.
2. To develop a productive tropical animal germ plasm bank with emphasis on
Caribbean Animal Species.
3. To offer these working and productive collections for recreation,
conservation, education and research for the benefit of humanity.
