Lee Buenconsejo-Lum, MD, is a multi-talented family medicine physician in Hawaii. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Her primary role has been a faculty and a leader in Family Medicine Residency Education (Graduate Medical Education [GME]) since 1999 and has served as the Residency Program Director for 9 years. Since 2002, Dr. Buenconsejo-Lum has worked with health leaders in the US Affiliated Pacific Island (USAPI) jurisdictions in the areas of health workforce development, comprehensive cancer control, policy development and implementation for cervical cancer screening and other cancer risk factors. She is excited that the UH Family Medicine Residency Program has graduated 113 family physicians, and that about 70% have stayed to continue working in the State and USAPI. When speaking with Dr. Lum, she states that having supportive colleagues and family are keys to her success.
